Announcement: Tribal Filipino Sunday Celebration in Baguio City

The Cordillera Peoples Alliance, Maryknoll Ecological Sanctuary, Regional Ecumenical Council in the Cordillera and the Dap-ayan ti Kultura iti Kordilyera have come together to organize this year’s Tribal Filipino Sunday Celebration in Baguio City through an Elders and Youth Exchange, under the theme Ipannakel Kultura a Nakabigbigan, Padur-asen, Aywanen ken Salakniban!in light of the urgent need to assert and uphold indigenous peoples’ positive cultural values, traditions and practices  for their right to self determination and prevent further weakening and disintegration of these. It is also a venue where our elders pass on traditional knowledge to the Cordillera indigenous youth.   This will be held from October 9-10 at the Maryknoll Ecological Sanctuary.

October 9  opens with a ritual, a sharing session with our elders positive cultural values and indigenous socio-political institutions. The afternoon will consist of simultaneous workshops on indigenous instruments, songs and chants, dances and attire, until the morning of October 10. The afternoon of October 10 will be a public event of workshop outputs that ends with a cultural and solidarity night.

Tribal Filipino Sunday  is an annual celebration of the culture of the indigenous peoples of  the Philippines, in recognition of their strength as communities who continuously join the entire Filipino nation in the struggle for  human rights, justice, democracy and freedom. #
